Yale Polo Barn & Equestrian Center

FEATURED PROJECT: YALE UNIVERSITY

Pacesetter Construction was hired to repair and replace the roofs, walls, and soffits on two buildings after a tornado caused extensive damage at the Yale University Polo Barn and Equestrian Center.

MORE ABOUT THIS PROJECT

In Spring 2020, the Yale University Polo Barn and Equestrian Center sustained substantial damage as the result of a  tornado. In the aftermath, Pacesetter Construction was hired to repair and replace the roofs, walls and soffits on two buildings including an indoor arena and barn.

The 80’x 200’ indoor arena buildingwas refitted with a 26-gauge PBR metal roof system and 14’ high 26-gauge PBR wall system. PBR panels have a larger overlap section that completely overlaps the next panel, creating more metal-to-metal contact which yields a stronger connection and more weather-tight metal roof panels.

The design for the arena also included 8’ high translucent panels to provide natural light to the arena.

The barn, which houses the polo horses, is a 60’x80’ structure. It received the same new metal roof system, wall panels, and soffits as well. The soffit work for the buildings was a white 24-gauge aluminum material with a classic green 24-gauge trim. Additionally, roof venting for condensation control and roof truss replacement occurred in areas where additional wind damage occurred from uplift.
